Wedding Catering Service Style Guide – Lunch, dinner sitting, or receipt of finger food
Before you start choosing between the network and chicken, think about how you like your service. The most common options include seated meal, buffet and passed tray (input) welcome. To help decide, we've compiled everything you need to know about the styles of those who serve.
Things to consider:
The time of day your event takes place —
If your reception will be held during lunch or cocktail hour, a 5-course meal is not necessary. If your reception will be at lunch time, should only serve the snacks.
The formality of your event —
While it is perfectly acceptable to have a buffet at the same more formal events, the tradition still tend to dictate that more formal sit down meal. If you think guests dressed in tie white, drinking French champagne and serenaded by a full orchestra, eat can be the way forward.
Your guests —
Always bear in mind the nature of your guest list. The elderly or the more traditional guests may feel more comfortable when seated dinner, while younger customers yawn May be required to sit for several hours. Serve Styles – An Overview:
Sitting –
Overview: In a seated dinner, guests are seated and served by service staff in the pre-assigned tables for you. This style is more traditional and usually more formal. The types of sit-down service includes: 1. gold-plated service – where the full meal is pre-arranged on individual plates and served to guests, 2. Russian service – where wait staff courses of serving food on the dishes on the table 3. French service – where two waiters serve the guests of the platform, a celebration of the tray and the other party.
Buffet –
Overview: a buffet, guests select their food is a long table or stations strategically placed throughout the room. (think pasta station, seafood station Wok Chinese) Another advantage is that it can serve a varied menu from which customers can choose what they want. Having a buffet style meal does not mean you have to sacrifice sophistication. The buffet can be formal when served by a wait staff with casual or more with self-stations service.
Finger Food Reception –
Overview: This style of delivery, no full meal. Instead of distributing the server room, offering trays of hors d'oeuvres to standing guests. This type of service is ideal for cocktails, often lasting less than a warm welcome.
